A massive thank you to master’s student Caitlin Dudzik for sharing her research looking at tiger shark predation of albatross fledgelings in the Kure Atoll, Hawaii featuring some sick footage!
Some highlights from Caitlin Dudzik’s talk included:
Learning about Caitlin’s successes and challenges she faced while conducting surveys rain or shine with hand-made methods and equipment
Getting a glimpse of some behind-the-scenes footage of tiger sharks successfully (and not so successfully) predating on albatross fledgelings
Gathering a greater understanding of how to conduct impactful science and why data can be valuable to conservation (as Caitlin discussed the formation of an Important Shark and Ray Area (ISRA) as a result of these surveys)
