Meeting #18 Bamboo shark cognition & AGM information

BIG thank you to Kylie Bostick for sharing her research with captive bamboo sharks.

Some highlights from Kylie’s talk included:

  • Talking about how environmental enrichment may promote positive wellbeing in captive sharks.

  • Learning how she carries out cognitive bias tests on captive bamboo sharks at Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters in NSW.

  • Hearing about some exciting preliminary results from her experiments.

We also heard from our President, Liat, who went over the executive team roles for 2025 that are now open…

  • This is a great opportunity to be more involved with The FINstitute and to directly support our conservation efforts!

  • Positions up for grabs are VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Field Trip Coordinator, Social Event Coordinator and Social Media Manager.

  • Stay tuned for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, 9th September in Building 134 Room 010 where you’ll run and vote your pick for these positions.
